Wojtek Gierlach takes part in the Polskie Requiem in tribute to Penderecki
December 13th, 2023
Bass Wojtek Gierlach will take part in the Extraordinary Concert marking the 90th anniversary of Krzysztof Penderecki's birth. In the programme, the work Polskie Requiem composed by Penderecki between 1980 and 1984 will be performed. The requiem, dedicated to the heroes and victims of Polish history, was later revised in 1993 by the composer, and again, in 2005, he added a last movement with the sobriquet Ciaconna.
The cast will feature soprano Iwona Hossa, mezzo-soprano Anna Radziejewska and tenor Rafał Bartmiński, together with Wojtek Gierlach, as soloists. They will be conducted by Maestro Maciej Tworek, who will be conducting the Polska Orkiestra Sinfonia Iuventus "Jerzego Semkowa".
The concert will also feature the Chór Polskiego Radia - Lusławice (Polish Radio Choir from Lusławice), the Zespół Śpiewaków Miasta Katowice Camerata Silesia (Katowice City Choir Camerata Silesia), and the Chór Collegium Cantorum. Concert will take place on 17 December at the Krzysztof Penderecki European Music Centre in Lusławic.
