Sara Bañeras started music through Suzuki method for voice and piano. Graduated in economics, she studied at the Conservatory of Valencia where she obtained her Master in Opera. She has studied with tenor Dalmau González and soprano Ofelia Sala.
She has received master classes from M. Caballé, L. Serra, R. Scotto, M. Devia, P. Ciofi, F. Cedolins, T. Berganza, E. Fiorillo, F. Roig, N. Fabiola Herrera, J.D. Flórez, E. Palacio, J. Aragall, C. Merritt, R. Gimenez and L. Regazzo and from conductors such as M. Ortega, A. Zedda, J.M. Pérez Sierra and C. Soler. She also attended several opera studios: “Escola d’òpera” in Sabadell, where she performed Le Nozze di Figaro, Operastudio Alcalá de Henares and Accademia Rossiniana of the Rossini Opera Festival where she performed Il viaggio a Reims.
She has been awarded 1st prize in the Concurs de cant Josep Palet (2021), Lied prize in Alcalá de Henares Singing Competition (2022), special prize in the Santiago Lirica 2020 competition, “Concurso F.Viñas” (2020), 2nd prize in International Music Competition of Las Corts (2018), “Concours International de Belcanto” (2018) (special prize), Compostela Lirica (2020) and Concurso de canto de Medinaceli (2017), among others.
She made her professional debut as Francina in the catalan zarzuela Cançó d’amor i de guerra and has since taken onoperatic roles such as Pamina, Erste Dame and Papagena in Die Zauberflöte; Frasquita in Carmen; Miss Rowan in The Little Sweep; Amore in Orfeo ed Euridice; Madame Silberklang and Madame Herz in Der Schauspieldirektor; Lisinga in Le Cinesi; Alfonsina in Il convito; Rosalinde in a catalan production of Die Fledermaus and Soprano in The four-note opera, as well asthe cantata Carmina Burana. In zarzuela she performed roles as Cosette in Bohemios and Carolina in Luisa Fernanda. She has also participated in Papageno and Cia, organised by Caixaforum, which has taken her on tour around Spain.
Other relevant festivals, theatres and events in which she has sung are Rossini Opera Festival (Italy), Rossini in Wildbad (Germany), Gstaad New Year Music Festival (Switzerland), Sankt Goar International Music Festival (Germany), Canet-en-Rousillon New Year’s concert (France), Vêndome Music Festival (France), Ticino Music Festival (Switzerland), Primer Palau (Barcelona), Life Victoria (Barcelona), Auditorio Principe Felipe (Oviedo), Auditorio E. Granados (Lleida), Teatro Municipal Gerona, T. Fortuny (Reus), Teatro La Faràndula (Sabadell), Palau de la Música (Valencia), Juventudes Musicales de España and Festival Daurada Escena (Tarragona), among many others.
Her recent performances include Adina in L’elisir d’amore at Teatro Mayor Julio Mario Santo Domingo in Bogotá, her debut at the Liceu asContessa di Ceprano in Rigoletto and Musetta in La bohème at Palau de la Música Catalana, all three acclaimed by both audience and critics. She has also been guest soloist in the 2022-23 “Festival de valsos i danses” concert tour of the Orquestra Simfònica del Vallés. In addition, since 2021 she regularly performs Violetta Valery in La traviata in the Novaria Artist production at the Palau de la Música Catalana, an essential role in her repertoire.
Her engagements this season include La traviata in concert version in Girona, the recording of a cycle of songs by Joan Manau and a concert tour with Juventudes Musicales de España, as well as the show Papageno and Cia in different cities.
