Rafael Sánchez-Araña in Platea Magazine: "I consider myself lucky to be able to work in my homeland"

Platea Magazine has published an interview with Sánchez-Araña in which it reviews the unique career of the Canarian conductor, recalling his beginnings as a violinist with the Sinfónica de Las Palmas, the orchestra of which he has been the principal conductor from 2017 to 2023, and reviewing his upcoming engagements.
He is considered one of the great conductors of the Canary Islands and, in this respect, Rafael comments that "on the one hand I have benefited from being the first to open the way and on the other hand I have had to prove twice as much to justify that I was up to the task, as I suppose happens everywhere with home-grown artists".
Sánchez-Araña, who excels in both the symphonic and operatic fields, previews in the interview some of his upcoming engagements: Carmina Burana and a documentary in celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Sinfónica de Las Palmas, as well as opera, zarzuela and the traditional New Year's Concert of the Sinfónica de Las Palmas.
