Rafael Sánchez-Araña conducts El barbero de Sevilla in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria

Rafael Sánchez-Araña conducts Manuel Nieto and Gerónimo Giménez's zarzuela El barbero de Sevilla at the Teatro Cuyás in Las Palmas.
The work, premiered in 1901 at the Teatro de la Zarzuela, features one of the most famous polonaises of the genre, Me llaman la primorosa, and tells, in one act and three scenes, the story of a young soprano who wants to triumph on the lyric stage with the support of her teacher but her father opposes her.
The title puts the finishing touch to the XXXI Temporada de Zarzuela de Canarias and has a cast headed by Borja Quiza in the role of Martín and along with him, Abenauara Graffigna, Fernando Campero, José Luis Gago, Silvia Pileño, Alicia Ramos, Alberto Aliaga, Víctor Batista Falcón and Tanausú Díaz García.
Maestro Sánchez-Araña will be conducting the Orquesta Filarmónica de Gran Canaria, while José Luis Gago will be in charge of stage direction.
