Following the performances, in concert version, of Jaume Pahissa's opera Gal-la Placídia at the Teatro de la Zarzuela, the press has echoed the great work of Maribel Ortega. Specifically, Platea Magazine states that: "one finds oneself totally caught up in the music at the end of the second act, with brilliant writing here, elevated to Wagner's style, in a duet, Oh Déu, tinc por!, in which the protagonists ravished the ear thanks to the voices of two masterful singers, Maribel Ortega and Antoni Lliteres. If the applause went from initial shyness to the final rapture of the evening, it was undoubtedly due to the two of them.To all the singers assembled, really, but theirs is of immeasurable merit".
On the other hand, the magazine Scherzo highlights the great work of the cast despite the difficulty of the score: "The demands made on the vocal cast were evident, and they behaved with solvency in the face of a difficult score. The soprano Maribel Ortega (Gal-la Placídia), the tenor Antoni Lliteres (Vernulfo), the bass Simón Orfila (Ataúlfo), the mezzo-soprano Carol García (Ledia) and Carles Pachon (Sigerico) stood out in their leading roles".
On the other hand, Beckmesser highlights that Maribel: "has undertaken her not easy part of Placídia with courage and commitment.[...] with a high-pitched, quite sought-after area here, shining and full".
Finally, Ópera World writes in its review: "Here everyone is at the service of the music and this was perfectly understood by Ms. Ortega, who gave an impeccable performance, being very faithful to the score".
