After the Zarzuela Gala on February 8 at the Teatro Villamarta, the press has echoed the extraordinary performance of the soprano Maribel Ortega. Thus, in the magazine Ópera World it can be read that:
"The Jerez soprano Maribel Ortega, in a splendid vocal moment, showed her versatility by showing off her powerful instrument in pages as well known as dramatic from La marchenera ("Tres horas antes del día") and from Los claveles ("Que te importa que no venga") and showing us her comic side with the delicious waltz of Angelita from the zarzuela chica Chateau Margaux, in which she marked herself a funny "sketch" with a bottle of wine and a glass for the maestro. But before this number, which was the official end of the gala, she had her high point in the duet of "La Revoltosa", by Chapí, with Carlos Daza, excellently interpreted by both."
In the same vein, and praising the successful selection of repertoire, Diario de Jerez highlights the following: "It was Maribel Ortega, our wonderful soprano, who opened the turn of soloists in the role of godmother of the gala, since she was at home, with the demanding romanzas "Tres horas antes del día" by maestro Torrroba and later "¿Qué te importa que no venga?" from Los claveles by J. Serrano, to finish with the waltz "Es este Burdeos" in a funny staging as an amusing drunkard.Previously, together with baritone Carlos Daza and very well performed, they performed the duet of La Revoltosa by Chapí.Maribel Ortega is in an exceptional vocal moment."
