March 6th, 2024
Soprano Maribel Ortega will perform the leading role in the opera Gal-la Placídia, which premieres at the Teatro de la Zarzuela. The opera, whose music and libretto belong to the composer Jaume Pahissa, is based on the work of Àngel Guimerà. It is a revival on the occasion of the 110th anniversary of its premiere, coinciding with the centenary of Guimerà's death.
The cast, headed by Maribel Ortega in the role of Gal-la Placídia, will also include Antoni Lliteres, who will perform Vernulf, as well as Simón Orfila, who will take on the role of Ataülf. The role of Sigeric will be sung by Carles Pachón, while mezzo-soprano Carol García will perform Llèdia. The cast is completed by Carlos Daza, as Vèlia, and Marc Sala as Varogast.
The Orquesta de la Comunidad de Madrid, together with the Coro del Teatro de La Zarzuela, will be conducted by maestro Christoph König. The opera will be performed in concert version.
Performances will take place on March 8th and 10th at the Teatro de la Zarzuela.
