We are very happy to announce that soprano María Rey-Joly has joined our roster of artists and we would like to thank her for the trust she has placed in GoDirect.
María Rey-Joly studied violin and piano, later graduating in singing at the Escuela Superior de Canto in Madrid, her hometown. She completed her training in the master classes of Gundula Janowitz, Brigitte Fassbaender, Raina Kabaivanska and Plácido Domingo. Her theatrical training as an actress, together with her vocal personality make her a very versatile singer which allows her to face a very extensive repertoire.
In opera she has interpreted roles such as Pamina (Die Zauberflöte), Konstanze (Die Entführung aus dem Serail), Fiordiligi (Così fan tutte), Norina (Don Pasquale), Musetta (La bohème), Micaëla (Carmen), Nedda (Pagliacci) and Elisabetta de Valois (Don Carlo), among others. She has performed a large number of zarzuelas, such as Doña Francisquita (Francisquita), Los sobrinos del capitán Grant (Miss Ketty), Black el Payaso (Sofía), El asombro de Damasco (Zobeida), El Juramento (María and la Baronesa de Aguafría) and Luisa Fernanda (Carolina), among many others. She has also devoted herself to the vocal symphonic and chamber repertoire (Carmina Burana by Orff, Requiem by Fauré and by Brahms, La dance des morts by Honneger, Egmont by Beethoven, etc.) and she has performed in lyrical-theatrical shows (Y si nos enamoramos de Scarpia, Diva, Malos tiempos para la lírica, etc.). She has sung in concert halls in various countries (France, Switzerland, Belgium, Italy, Mexico, Costa Rica, the United States, Turkey) and in the opera houses of Lausanne, Turin, Istanbul, Trieste, Liege, as well as being invited in the main opera houses in Spain ( Sevilla, Oviedo, Bilbao, Jerez, Teatro de la Zarzuela and Teatro Real de Madrid, etc.). She has participated in several recordings, as Margarita la tornera, El hijo fingido, María de Buenos Aires Suite and Paër's Agnese.
