 Born in Linares, he studied piano, chamber music, and orchestral conducting. His most notable recent operatic engagements include Don Carlo, Otello, La Bohème, La Sonnambula, El Pintor, El Caballero de la Triste Figura, Pepita Jiménez, Candide, Rigoletto, Carmen, Die Dreigroschenoper, and a lyrical recital with G. Kunde and J. J. Rodríguez, presented at venues such as the Gran Teatre del Liceu, Teatro Real de Madrid, the San Lorenzo de El Escorial Summer Festival Auditorium, Teatros del Canal, the Palau de les Arts in Valencia, and the Teatro Principal in Palma de Mallorca. 

In the field of dance, highlights include Carmen at the Semperoper in Dresden; Sorolla, Electra, El sombrero de tres picos, and Zaguán & Alento with the Spanish National Ballet at venues such as Teatro Real, Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, the Mérida Festival, Teatro de la Zarzuela, Teatro Campoamor, and Teatros del Canal; Romeo & Juliet with Le Ballet du Grand Théâtre de Genève at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona; The Nutcracker, Carmen, and Don Quixote with the National Dance Company at Teatro Real, Baluarte, Cagliari, Festspielhaus St. Pölten, Teatro de la Zarzuela, Teatros del Canal, Teatro Arriaga, and Teatro de la Maestranza; The Merry Widow at the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires; Carmen with Víctor Ullate Ballet at Teatros del Canal, El Escorial, Oviedo, and Córdoba; El Amor Brujo with La Fura dels Baus at Teatros del Canal; and Messiah with the Sodre National Ballet. 

In zarzuela, his work includes La Malquerida, El Caserío, La Verbena de la Paloma, La Revoltosa, Enseñanza libre / La gatita blanca, Entre Sevilla y Triana, Amadeu, Quo Vadis y Plus Ultra, Luisa Fernanda, and Viva Madrid, performed at Teatro de la Zarzuela, Teatro Julio Mario Santo Domingo in Bogotá, the Royal Opera House of Muscat, Teatros del Canal in Madrid, Teatro Arriaga in Bilbao, and Teatro Campoamor in Oviedo. 

Among the orchestras with which he has collaborated are the Staatskapelle Dresden, Tonkünstler Orchestra, Orquesta Sinfónica de Madrid, Orquestra de la Comunitat Valenciana, Orquesta Sinfónica de Sevilla, Real Filharmonía de Galicia, Orchestra of the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari, Orchestra G. Verdi of Milan, Bilbao Symphony Orchestra, Orquesta de la Comunidad de Madrid, Gran Teatre del Liceu Symphony Orchestra, Balearic Islands Symphony Orchestra, Murcia Symphony Orchestra, Oviedo Filarmonía, Extremadura Orchestra, Verum Orchestra, Málaga Philharmonic Orchestra, the Resident Orchestra of the Teatro Argentino, Brasília National Theatre Symphony Orchestra, and the National Symphony Orchestra of Colombia, among others. 

His recordings include Chamber Music by R. Halffter with the Orquesta de la Comunidad de Madrid for Naxos; La Verbena de la Paloma for Decca; Sorolla and Electra for the Spanish National Ballet; sonatas by Alfredo Aracil and The Nutcracker for the National Dance Company; and the complete Guitar Concertos by Federico Moreno Torroba (with guitarists Pepe Romero and Vicente Coves) for Naxos. 

His most recent engagements include Orfeo ed Euridice at the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires; a semi-staged version of Tosca in Vigo; Carmen at the Teatre Principal in Palma; El sombrero de tres picos, Eterna Iberia, and Electra with the Spanish National Ballet; The Nutcracker, Carmen, and Don Quixote with the National Dance Company; an Opera and Zarzuela Gala with the Real Filharmonía de Galicia; the ballet Stravinsky–Shostakovich–Jenkins with the National Dance Company at Teatro Real; the Tribute to Antonio Ruiz Soler with the Spanish National Ballet at Teatro de la Maestranza, Víctor Villegas Auditorium and Congress Center in Murcia, and Teatro Real; Albert Boadella’s Diva at Teatros del Canal; concerts with the Orchestra Sinfonica laVerdi in Milan and the Málaga Philharmonic Orchestra; the ballet Ligeti–Beethoven–Shostakovich with the National Dance Company at Teatro de la Zarzuela; a semi-staged Falstaff at Teatro Afundación in Vigo; musical direction of the ballet El Loco with the Spanish National Ballet; Don Juan at the Sferisterio during the Macerata Opera Festival; El sombrero de tres picos at Veranos de la Villa; Don Pasquale at Teatro Afundación in Vigo; Le Corsaire at the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires; Carmen with Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo and with the English National Ballet; the Generaciones project with the Spanish National Ballet; Suite Española with the Ballet Español de la Comunidad de Madrid; Don Quixote at the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires; Carmen at the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma; Don Quixote with the National Dance Company at Teatro Real; Les saisons with the Biarritz Ballet in Oviedo; Johan Inger’s Carmen in Poland; and concerts with the ORCAM.
