Lina Mendes performs Mendelssohn's Paulus with the São Paulo State Symphony Orchestra
March 26th, 2024
Soprano Lina Mendes will take part in the next concert with the OSESP, the Orquestra Sinfônica do Estado de São Paulo, in which the oratorio Paulus Op. 36 by Felix Mendelssohn will be performed. She will be accompanied by mezzo-soprano Luciana Bueno, tenor Nico Darmanin and baritone Paulo Szot.
Mendelssohn composed the first of his great oratorios, Paulus, in 1836. This imposing work consists of 42 musical numbers, including recitatives, arias, choruses and instrumental passages. Paulus recounts the transformation of Saul into Paul, who, after an encounter with the risen Christ, abandons his hostility towards Christians in order to embrace and defend his faith.
Maestro Arvo Volmer will conduct the OSESP Orchestra and Choir.
Concerts will take place on 28, 29 and 30 March at the Sala São Paulo.
