Karina Demurova to perform Dvořák's Stabat Mater in Málaga
March 30th, 2023
Mezzo-soprano Karina Demurova participates in Dvořák's Stabat Mater, with the Orquesta Filarmónica de Málaga at the Teatro Cervantes in Malaga, on March 30th and 31st.
Stabat mater, Op.58 is a work that demonstrates the extraordinary melodic and harmonic talent of the Czech composer Antonín Dvořák. It is an oratorio for soloists, choir and orchestra composed between 1876 and 1877, the years in which three of the composer's young children died in succession.
The work is based on the pious hymn of Pope Innocent III on a poetic 13th century prayer attributed to the Franciscan blessed Jacopone da Todi, in which a meditation on Mary's suffering during the crucifixion of her son, Jesus Christ, is developed.
Leading the orchestra will be Maestro José María Moreno. Karina Demurova will share the stage with the soprano Berna Perles, the tenor Mateus Pompeu and the baritone Damián del Castillo. Likewise, the Malaga Opera Choir, prepared by María del Mar Muñoz, joins this concert, which is part of the Easter celebrations in Malaga.
