Karina Demurova takes part in the next production of L'enfant et les sortilèges at the Ópera de Tenerife

Mezzo-soprano Karina Demurova is taking part in the forthcoming production of Maurice Ravel's L'enfant et les sortilèges at the Ópera de Tenerife.
Karina will perform the roles of the mother, the dragonfly and the Chinese cup, and she is joined by Na'ama Goldman as the child, Beatriz Díaz as the Louis XV armchair, a shepherdess, the bat and the owl, as well as Blanca Valido, who will perform a shepherd, the squirrel, the cat and the stool, while Natalia Labourdette will take on the roles of the princess, the nightingale, the fire and the bench. The cast also includes David Barrera as the little old man, the tree frog and the teapot, and Milan Perišić as the cat and the Comtoise clock.
Maestro Jordi Francés will conduct the Orquesta Sinfónica de Tenerife and the Coro Titular Ópera de Tenerife-Intermezzo, in a production by the Opéra National de Lyon, in collaboration with the Auditori de Barcelona, which will be stage directed by James Bonas.
The work, with a libretto by Sidonie-Gabrielle Colette, narrates the reactions of a disobedient and capricious child, who becomes enraged when he is forced to fulfil his obligations. Tired of the tantrum provoked by his mother's demands that he finish his homework, the child sits down in an armchair. At that moment, the objects and animals around him come to life, which have been mistreated by him as he vents his anger and show him the inappropriateness of his behaviour.
Performances will take place on 20 and 21 April at the Auditorio de Tenerife.
