October 5th, 2023
After receiving praise for his work in Faust at the Hamburg Kammeroper in the 22/23 season, best musical production of the season by the magazine "Die Deutsche Bühne", Madrilenian stage director Alfonso Romero Mora returns to Hamburg with Saverio Mercadante's I due Figaro.
This performance is the German premiere of Mercadante's two-act buffo melodrama, which functions as an alternative continuation of Beaumarchais' world-famous work thanks to Felice Romani's libretto and was inspired by the Mozart / Da Ponte model, combining serious and comic elements.
The musical direction of this production is by Ettore Prandi and the cast includes, among others, Marco Trespioli, Feline Knabe, Maria Margarethe Brunauer, Lilia-Fruz Bulhakova, Edison Silva Juniot, Titus Witt, Natascha Dwulecki, Luminita Andrei and Friedo Henken.
The premiere is tomorrow, October 6, and there will be 24 performances at the Allee Theater in Hamburg until December 9.
