Soprano Génesis Moreno is the recent winner of the First Prize, the Prize for Best Zarzuela Interpretation and the Audience Award at the IX Alfredo Kraus International Singing Competition held in September 2023.
In addition, among other awards, she has won the First Prize at the Linus Lerner International Competition in its 2021 edition.
She began her musical studies at the age of ten in the "Sistema Nacional de Orquestas y Coros de Venezuela" (National System of Orchestras and Choirs of Venezuela) and played first violoncello in the Orquesta Juvenil de Petare. She was also a member of the "Coro Nacional Juvenil Simón Bolívar" where she performed under the baton of Maestro Gustavo Dudamel.
Her repertoire includes the operatic roles of Adina in L'elisir d'amore, Rosina in Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Gilda in Rigoletto and Marguerite in Faust.
In the symphonic and oratorio repertoire she has performed as soloist in Beethoven's Ninth Symphony, Mahler's Second Symphony and Carl Orff's Carmina Burana and has been invited to the prestigious Mexican festival Alfonso Ortiz Tirado (FAOT).
Recent performances and upcoming engagements include an opera gala with the Austin Opera in Texas, her participation in the Ramón Vargas 40th anniversary gala with the Ópera de Bellas Artes, Romeo et Juliette (Juliette) at the Teatre Principal in Palma and a concert at the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino.
She is currently a member of the Bellas Artes Opera Studio in Mexico City.
