Federico Figueroa directs Veneno es de amor la envidia at the Auditorio Nacional in Madrid

Stage director Federico Figueroa directs a new production of the baroque zarzuela Veneno es de amor la envidia, by composer Sebastián Durón and playwright Antonio de Zamora.
The cast includes mezzo-soprano Lola Casariego, who will perform the role of Circe, Ingartze Astuy as Scylla, and Ana Molina in the roles of Nymph and Antaeus. Tenors Francisco Pardo and Juan Blázquez will perform Apollo, Phoreus and Triton, respectively, while sopranos Natalia Pérez and Pilar Tejero will give life to Florilla, and the Nymphs and Zagala. The actor Pablo James will complete the cast as Glauco.
David Santacecilia will be in charge of conducting the ensemble Exordium Musicae, who will follow Raúl Angulo's musical edition.
This work, a jewel of the Spanish musical heritage of the 18th century, will be performed on Saturday 2 March at 19:30 in the Chamber Hall of the Auditorio Nacional de Música in Madrid, as part of the 51 Ciclo de Grandes Autores e Intérpretes de la Música de la UAM.
