November 23rd, 2023
Argentine baritone Fabián Veloz talks about his artistic career in an interview with the newspaper La Nación. In it, he talks about his roots as a musician and when he decided to turn his professional life towards operatic singing, which has taken him to the Metropolitan Opera House in New York: "On top of a piece of furniture in my house I found a guitar," he recalls, "I took it down, started playing by ear and playing "folklore" by observing others, helping myself with the Toco y Canto magazines that brought the lyrics and chords drawn for the guitar. A time without tutorials or internet! You had to listen to the music, keep it in your memory, 'pull out the melody' by ear or record it by hand when it appeared on the radio. That's how I started. From nothingness itself."
He has recently presented a program of chamber folklore until the end of the month in New York with the Camerata Washington Heights, with arrangements and general conduction by pianist and composer Sebastián Fernández Cerri.
