Canadian tenor David Pomeroy is enjoying a career that is placing him in the spotlight on the world’s most important stages. The New York Times describes him as "a powerful, agile tenor... heartfelt." The Newfoundland native made his Metropolitan Opera debut in the title role of Faust, followed by the title role of Hoffmann opposite soprano Anna Netrebko under the baton of Maestro James Levine, and now receives star billing across North America, Europe, Asia, and Latin America.
Pomeroy opened the 2022/23 season performing at Calgary Opera's 50th Anniversary Gala, followed by returns to the Canadian opera stage as Cavaradossi (Tosca) with Edmonton Opera and Don José (Carmen) with Calgary Opera. He appears with the Louisiana Philharmonic for Britten's Serenade for Tenor, Horn and Strings, Manitoba Opera for its 50th Anniversary Gala, and Orchestre Symphonique du Québec and Rhode Island Philharmonic for performances of Verdi's Requiem.
In the 2021/2022 season, he made his debut at the Gran Teatre del Liceu as Bacchus (Ariadne auf Naxos), and he performed Turiddu (Cavalleria rusticana) at the Vancouver Opera and appeared at the Manitoba Opera. That same season he returned to the Municipal Theater of São Paulo, Brazil, as Radamés (Aida).
David Pomeroy has sung in the main lyric theaters in the world, such as the opera houses in Stuttgart, Frankfurt, Montreal and Seattle, as well as in prestigious festivals such as Edinburgh or Bregenz. On these and other stages he has performed roles such as Paul (Die tote Stadt), Don José (Carmen), Calaf (Turandot), Pinkerton (Madama Butterfly), Mario Cavaradossi (Tosca) Florestan (Fidelio), Erik (Die fliegende Holländer) or the title role of Peter Grimes, just to mention a few of them.
Very active in concert halls, he has appeared as a tenor soloist in works such as Braunfels' Te Deum (his debut with the OCNE in Madrid), Verdi's Requiem, Händel's The Messiah, Elgar's The Dream of Gerontius, Beethoven's Symphony No. 9th., Mahler's 8th Symphony, among others.
