Cristian Díaz participates in the world premiere of La paz perpetua, by José Río-Pareja
November 22nd, 2023
Bass Cristian Díaz perform the role of John-John in the opera La paz perpetua, by José Río-Pareja. This is the world premiere of this contemporary opera, which is part of the Ópera Joven program of the Diputación de Badajoz.
The libretto, based on a text of the same name by playwright Juan Mayorga, tells the story of three brave dogs, Emmanuel, Odin and John-John, who embark on a quest to find a place in an elite anti-terrorist team called K9. After passing sniff tests, psycho-technical tests and personal interviews, led by the experienced dog Casius and a mysterious woman known as Human, the three canines stand out with excellent scores. However, a final ethical challenge posed by Humano provokes divergent reactions among the dogs, leading the story to a tragic denouement.
The opera is written in one act for five singers, among whom we can find, in addition to Cristian Díaz, Isabella Gaudí, Christian Gil-Borrelli, Juan Noval-Moro and Toni Marsol.
Jordi Francés will be in charge of conducting the Ensemble Sonido Extremo, a group from Extremadura specialized in contemporary music. Performances will be next Saturday, November 25th at the Teatro López de Ayala in Badajoz and on the 26th at the Auditorium of the Palacio de Cultura in Herrera del Duque.
