Carmen Romeu stars
La verbena de la Paloma at the Teatro de la Zarzuela May 8th, 2024 |
Carmen Romeu stars in the Teatro de la Zarzuela's production of La verbena de la Paloma, by Tomás Bretón. She will perform the role of Susana, Julián's beloved, a role that will be performed by baritone Borja Quiza. Also taking part are Antonio Comas, in the role of Don Hilarión, and Milagros Martín as Señá Rita, among others.
Maestro José Miguel Pérez-Sierra will conduct the Orquesta de la Comunidad de Madrid. This new Teatro de la Zarzuela production, with stage direction and choreography by Nuria Castejón, also includes the comic-lyrical prologue Adiós, Apolo, in Castejón's own words, "as a tribute to the many artists who made the Teatro Apolo the cathedral of the género chico".
Performances will take place on 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 15, 16, 17, 18, 18, 19, 22, 23, 24 and 25 May at the Teatro de la Zarzuela.
