Ángeles Blancas, Spanish artist with an extensive career, both nationally and internationally consolidated, is a dramatic soprano currently specialized in the 20th Century repertoire of composers as R. Strauss, Wagner, Janáček, Berg, Reimann, Rhim, Schönberg and Messiaen, among others.
In the symphonic and chamber music field, her repertoire covers from Brahms, Schumann, Mahler, Debussy and Ravel to Messiaen, Vaughan Williams, Richard Strauss, Sibelius, Dutilleux or Kurt Weill.
She has worked with renowned conductors like Antonio Pappano, Fabio Luisi, Philippe Auguin, Juraj Valčuha, Lothar Zagroseck, Nello Santi, Marco Armiliato, Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos, Alberto Zedda, Álvaro Albiach, Carlos Aragón, Josep Vicent, and stage directors like Graham Vick, Robert Carsen, Andrea Breth, David Poutney, Calixto Bieito or Emilio Sagi.
Ángeles Blancas has performed at some of the most important theatres, among them are ROH Covent Garden (London), Opernhaus Zürich, Gran Teatre del Liceu (Barcelona), Teatro Real (Madrid), La Monnaie (Brussels), Washington Opera, Carnegie Hall (New York), Fenice di Venezia, Hannover Staatsoper, Teatro Massimo di Palermo, Marseille Opera, San Carlo di Napoli, Santa Cecilia, Opera di Roma, Teatro Regio di Torino, Teatro Comunale di Bologna, Opéra de Monte-Carlo, Teatro Colón de Buenos Aires and many others.
Among her recent engagements is the role of La Madre in Dallapiccola's Il Prigioniero with the London Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Antonio Pappano. With the WNO Cardiff, she performed the role of Emilia Marty in Leoš Janáček's opera Věc Makropulos to great critical and public acclaim, conducted by Tomáš Hanus and with Olivia Fuchs as stage director, in a tour of different cities that ended in Brno, a city closely linked to the Czech composer and where the Janáček Brno Festival is held.
Future projects include the opera Lear at the Teatro Real in Madrid, a concert with A. Pappano again with Dallapiccola and the role of Kostelnička in Janáček's Jenůfa at the Teatro de la Maestranza in Seville.
