Andrés Sánchez Joglar, born in Havana, completed his vocal studies at the Amadeo Roldán Conservatory in Havana, graduating in 2012.
He has also completed his training at the National Lyric Theater of Cuba and in classes given by artists such as Mietta Sighele, Nancy Fabiola Herrera, Jorge de León or Fiorenza Cedolins, among others.
In addition, he has won awards in various competitions and contests, such as the Second Prize at the Young Lyric Singers Competition in Pinar del Rio, the first prize at the Jesus Lee Competition and an award at the Riccardo Zandonai Singing Competition in Riva del Garda.
Since his debut in 2011 as Normanno and Arturo in Lucia di Lammermoor at the Teatro Lírico Nacional de Cuba, he has performed some of the leading roles for tenor in this same theater, such as Mario Cavaradossi from Tosca, Alfredo Germont in La traviata or Florestan from Fidelio, among others.
Other notable performances include the Duke of Mantua in Rigoletto at the Teatro Martí in Havana; Mozart's Requiem and the role of Fabio in Il canto dell'amor trionfante at the Teatro Lírico in Havana; and Saturnin in Fromental Halévy's Le val d'Andorre at the Teatro Claror in Andorra.
Equally comfortable in the Zarzuela repertoire, he has sung titles such as Cecilia Valdés (in the role of Leonardo) and Molinos de viento, by Pablo Luna, at the Claror Theater in Andorra, as well as Luisa Fernanda and María de la O.
Among his recent and upcoming commitments: II trittico (Luigi and Rinuccio) in Palma de Mallorca, Don Gil de Alcalá at the Oviedo Spanish Lyrical Theater Festival and Lucia di Lammermoor in Zaragoza.
