Andrea Niño performs in La Rondine at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan
April 4th, 2024
Coinciding with Giacomo Puccini's centenary, mezzo-soprano Andrea Niño is taking part in the Teatro alla Scala's upcoming production of La Rondine. Andrea will perform the role of Suzy, sharing the stage with Mariangela Sicilia as Magda, Rosalia Cid as Lisette, Matteo Lippi, who will be Ruggero, and Pietro Spagnoli as Rambaldo, among others.
This is a new production by the Teatro alla Scala, directed by Irina Brook, in which Maestro Riccardo Chailly will conduct the Orchestra e Coro del Teatro alla Scala.
The work will be performed according to the recent critical edition released by Ditlev Rindom (Ricordi 2023), who was able to use for the first time Puccini's autograph, long thought to be lost and which has only become available in recent years. Today is the premiere at Teatro alla Scala in Milan, and the remaining performances will take place on 7, 9, 12, 14 and 20 April, and will be broadcast live on RAI.
