Albert Casals in the cast of Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg at the Teatro Real

Tenor Albert Casals will take part in the upcoming production of Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg at the Teatro Real. He will perform the role of Balthasar Zorn, one of the master singers. The cast is led by baritone Gerald Finley as Hans Sachs, as well as Jongmin Park as Veit Pogner. The cast is completed by Paul Schweinester as Kunz Vogelgesang, Barnaby Rea as Konrad Nachtigal and baritone José Antonio López as the master cantor Fritz Kothner, among others.
Maestro Pablo Heras-Casado will be in charge of conducting the Coro y Orquesta Titulares del Teatro Real, in a new production of the Teatro Real, in a co-production with the Royal Danish Opera of Copenhagen and the National Theatre of Brno (Národní divadlo Brno), directed by Laurent Pelly.
This is a real tour de force for the theatre, since in addition to the technical and interpretative difficulty of the work, it will have 230 people on stage and 70 technicians.
Performances will take place on 24 and 28 April, 2, 6, 10, 14, 18, 21 and 25 May at the Teatro Real.
