Ángeles Blancas makes her debut at Teatro Petruzzelli in The Fiery Angel

Soprano Ángeles Blancas will make her debut at the Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari with the opera The Fiery Angel by Sergei Prokofiev. She will perform the title role of Renata, alongside Madina Karbeli. The cast is completed by Byung Gil Kim as The Inquisitor, Mert Süngü as Mefistofele, and Natalia Gavrilan as The Seer. Sava Vemić will perform Johann Faust, while Dimitris Tiliakos and Ramaz Chikviladze alternate in the role of Ruprecht, among others.
The production, by the Opera di Roma, will premiere with the Orchestra and Chorus of the Teatro Petruzzelli, under the baton of Jordi Bernàcer and stage direction by Emma Dante.
The work, with a libretto by the composer based on the novel of the same name by the Russian symbolist writer Valeri Briúsov, is set in 16th century Germany and recounts the gruesome life of Renata, possessed by evil spirits from the supernatural appearance, in her childhood, of Madiel, the angel of fire, to her tragic end.
Performances by Ángeles Blancas will take place on 17, 19, 21 and 23 April at the Teatro Petruzzelli.
