Distinguished Mexican soprano Zayra Ruiz is recognized for her stage charisma, beautiful vocal timbre, and artistic versatility. She has received awards in countries such as Spain, Italy, Canada, Mexico, and Japan, establishing herself as one of the most promising emerging voices on the international music scene.
Her vocal ability and interpretative sensitivity have allowed her to build a wide-ranging repertoire encompassing opera, zarzuela, oratorio, and concert song from various traditions, moving effortlessly from Baroque to contemporary music. She has been invited to perform on prestigious stages in Italy, Spain, France, Austria, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Germany, Portugal, Japan, Guatemala, Colombia, the United States, Canada, and Mexico, further strengthening her presence on the global stage.
She has been honored as an International Youth Ambassador for Peace in recognition of her social commitment and received the Mérito de las Artes award for her contribution to the arts in Mexico.
Her engagements this season include the successful European premiere of Yerma at Ópera de Tenerife, which received the Talía Award for Best Lyric Production; Don Gil de Alcalá at Teatro Villamarta; and her acclaimed debut at Teatro de la Zarzuela with the New Year’s Concert, among others. She is currently presenting recitals across Europe and the Americas as the leading artist of the show Tanto lírica como folclórica, a program that celebrates the richness of both genres with the aim of inspiring new generations and attracting broader audiences to the theater. Among her upcoming engagements are role debuts as Violetta in La traviata, the Countess in Le nozze di Figaro, and Marguerite in Faust.
