Sandra Ferrández has established herself as one of the most versatile mezzo-sopranos of her generation, recognized for her vocal richness and stage presence. Her musical training began in her hometown, Crevillente, and was refined in Valencia under the guidance of Ana Luisa Chova, earning the Premio Extraordinario de Fin de Carrera. Over the course of her career, she has been honored with numerous awards, including the Ópera Actual Award and First Prize from Juventudes Musicales de España.
Her operatic debut was in Les Contes d’Hoffmann, and soon after, she replaced Montserrat Caballé in Le Roi d’Ys, a milestone in her career. Since then, she has built a solid trajectory in Spain’s leading theaters, performing a diverse repertoire that includes opera, zarzuela, and symphonic-vocal music. Among her most recent and upcoming engagements are her performances as Carmen at the Teatro de la Maestranza in Seville and ADDA Alicante, La vida breve at ADDA, El barberillo de Lavapiés and La malquerida at Palau de les Arts de Valencia, as well as Mozart’s Requiem with the Coro Nacional de España and the Orquesta de Extremadura. She has also performed in Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, Handel’s Messiah with JOBA, Mahler’s Symphony No. 2 at the Auditorio Nacional de Madrid, Los gavilanes at the Teatro de la Zarzuela, El gato montés at the Teatro de la Maestranza, Götterdämmerung in Oviedo, Die Walküre, La traviata, Nixon in China, Tenorio, and Tejas Verdes at the Teatro Real de Madrid, Maddalena in Rigoletto in Málaga, La dama del alba at the Teatro Campoamor de Oviedo, and Hänsel und Gretel at the Teatro Real Retiro in Madrid and the Teatro Principal de Palma de Mallorca.
