Resounding success for Lianna Haroutounian as Cio-Cio San at the Teatro Real

After the premiere of the production of Madama Butterfly at the Teatro Real, Opera World magazine has echoed the resounding success of Lianna Haroutounian as Cio-Cio San, a role she says goodbye to after more than a decade of performances, in this production by Damiano Michieletto. In the recently published review, the magazine specialized in opera highlights the magnificent work of the Armenian soprano: “Tonight the geisha, main role of the opera, fifteen years old according to the plot, was performed by the Armenian Lianna Haroutounian, in my opinion the most suitable voice among the four options proposed by the TR (Saioa Hernandez, Aylin Perez and Aleksandra Kurzak). Master of her voice, the soprano serves the role of Cio-Cio-San with textbook lyricism in the first act, applies shades of broad lyricism in the second and ends her performance with the flowing dramatism that positively impacts the audience's reception. [...] Tonight's audience, unlike the premiere, gave an intense standing ovation (the desired standing ovation of any theater) to the starring quartet and the musical director.”
