18 de marzo de 2025
The Teatro Real in Madrid presents, for the first time in a staged version, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Mitridate, re di Ponto, in which tenor Jorge Franco will perform the role of Marzio.
This opera, composed by Mozart at the age of 14 and based on the tragedy by Jean Racine, tells the story of King Mithridates VI of Pontus and his family and political conflicts.
The production features musical direction by Ivor Bolton, leading the Teatro Real's Titular Orchestra, and stage direction by Claus Guth, whose approach to the stage is inspired by the TV series Succession.
The cast, in addition to Jorge Franco as Marzio, includes a double cast, with Siyabonga Maqungo and Juan Francisco Gatell as Mithridates, Sarah Blanch and Ruth Iniesta as Aspasia, Elsa Dreisig and Vanessa Goikoetxea as Sifare, and Franco Fagioli and Tim Mead as Farnace, among others. The performances in which Jorge Franco will sing are scheduled for March 25 and 30, and April 5 and 9, all at the Teatro Real.
