Following the premiere of the production of Orphée aux enfers at the Teatro Colón on 7 November, the specialised press has praised the work of soprano Mercedes Arcuri. For its part, the newspaper Clarín highlights her technical and scenic qualities: ‘Mercedes Arcuri composed a graceful Eurydice, she moved comfortably on stage [...] The soprano stood out in the defiant Ah! Quelle triste destinée, and her vocal virtuosity was displayed in the extravagant duet with Jupiter.’
Another Argentinean media, La Nación, also highlights her vocal line: ‘Mercedes Arcuri (Euridice) was destined for the pages of greatest musical relevance, such as the hilarious duet of the fly, where her sweet voice, with its beautiful line and comfortable coloraturas, added the uninhibitedness demanded by the scene’.
The website Martin Wullich highlights two key moments of the opera: ‘Mercedes Arcuri's work brought us a festive Euridice, who shone in Ah! quelle triste destinée as well as in the Moscardón duet with Ricardo Seguel.’ Olyrix, for his part, highlights the soprano's versatility: ‘Eurydice is sung by Mercedes Arcuri. Her soprano, suave and versatile, accompanies her role, seductive, light and volatile.’.
