Memorable triumph of Ángeles Blancas and Ana Ibarra in ABAO's Il Trittico
27th of November, 2024
Following the premiere of the production of Il Trittico at ABAO, the press has echoed the great work carried out by our artists ÁngelesBlancas and Ana Ibarra. Platea Magazine highlights the good work of both:
"Ángeles Blancas is in an impressive vocal moment. The recent winner of the Opera XXI Award for her spectacular performance as Kostelnička in Jenufa once again demonstrates that she is an exceptional singer and a unique actress. She created a Giorgietta, Michele's wife, who is tough, brave, voluptuous and free, tender in the final moments and always the protagonist of the scene. She handles her voice in a masterful way, managing to be the soul of the work thanks to clean and excellently projected high notes and more lyrical moments of incredible beauty. A true luxury.
Among the good work of the supporting actors in this work, we must highlight the Frugola of Ana Ibarra (present in all three operas) [...] The pleiad of relatives who form a whole around Schicchi, in which Ana Ibarra once again shined, are wonderful."
On the other hand, Scherzo praises Ángeles Blancas' magnetism on stage: "Ángeles Blancas offered a recital of gestures and glances in a Giorgetta with scenic magnetism and power of fascination, intelligently handling the strong points of a voice that is more imposing"
The newspaper El País recognizes both Ángeles Blancas and Ana Ibarra, highlighting the versatility of the Valencian mezzo-soprano:
"The Madrid soprano Ángeles Blancas sang a well-projected Giorgetta.
Among the supporting roles, the attractive Frugola of the Valencian mezzo-soprano Ana Ibarra should be highlighted, who made it a triple by adding La Badessa from Suor Angelica and Zita from Gianni Schicchi."
Finally, El Correo highlights Ana Ibarra's interpretative skills, particularly in the aria Se tu sapessi:
"There is room for both impressionism to outline the mists of the Seine and the aria 'Se tu sapessi', which serves to honour a cat – literally, it is not a metaphor – and sounds forceful and exotic in the voice of the mezzo Ana Ibarra, in the role of Frugola, wife of the stevedore Talpa (the bass Stefano Palatchi, credible in gesture and accent)."
