Masterful performance by Carmen Solís as Tosca in Sabadell
4th of December, 2024
After last week's premiere of the latest production of Tosca in Sabadell, the specialised press has highlighted the work of Carmen Solís. Specifically, the magazine Scherzo highlights the following: "Soprano Carmen Solís's Floria Tosca lived up to expectations because she has power, guts, expressiveness and above all because of how well she phrases, with sweet and also temperamental accents in her scenes with Cavaradossi in the first act and in the second with Scarpia. Her Vissi d'arte was very moving because she puts her soul into it when she sings and therefore empathises in any role he tackles". For its part, Diario de Sabadell highlights the soprano's intense performance: "Especially inspired, Carmen Solís once again reincarnated the passionate Floria Tosca, showing convincing chemistry with her beloved in the duet parts and in the brief episodes of jealousy. [...] The second act allowed us to appreciate the dramatic talents of the soprano, who successfully conveyed the desperation of her character, both theatrically and musically, with a prodigious Vissi d'arte rich in vibrato and great care in the dynamics. [...] Together with Solís, the two of them gave a memorable duet in O dolci mani, with great complicity and perfectly measured unisons".
