Maribel Ortega dazzles in Der fliegende Holländer at the Fundació Òpera Catalunya

Soprano Maribel Ortega became one of the main focuses of attention in the recent production of Der fliegende Holländer presented by the Fundació Òpera Catalunya (FOC), where she brought Senta to life.
In Ópera Actual, the critic highlighted: “The female lead fell to soprano Maribel Ortega, who brought to life a devoted Senta: she resolved the famous ballad with spinto firmness and showed her best version in the duet with the Dutchman, with a more restrained and lyrical line.”
According to Platea Magazine: “Maribel Ortega boasts a long and brilliant career with the FOC, especially in Italian repertoire. Although she had already performed the role of Senta in Galicia (Vigo and Santiago de Compostela) in concert versions, this marked her stage debut in a role that, vocally, suits her perfectly. Her dramatic material, vocal density, and timbral brilliance stood out from her opening Ballad [...] a singer possessing a truly exceptional instrument.”
And in the words of La Vanguardia: “The Jerez-born singer Maribel Ortega, a dramatic soprano much loved in Sabadell, was also familiar with the role, having sung it years ago in Galicia. She demonstrated her vocal prowess with resounding high notes at the end, crowning a reading of evocative lyricism, with details of great interpretive sensitivity.”
