After the concert on 14 September at the Festival Internacional de Música y Artes Escénicas de Linares, some media have echoed the great work done by the conductor Manuel Coves.
On the one hand, El Nuevo Observador, with the headline ‘Fiestón zarzuelero en el Cervantes’, reports on the magnificent work carried out in Linares by maestro Coves: "It takes brave conductors to rescue a genre that is more alive than ever, especially when it is given the impetus, passion and affection of Manuel Coves at the head of the Orquesta de la Comunidad de Madrid. It was a redemptive night, one of those that tends to stick with you when you bet on such a varied and entertaining repertoire for the public [...] Manuel Coves made his debut as conductor in his hometown within the framework of the Festival Internacional de Música y Artes Escénicas de Linares (Fimae) with a sublime concert of more than well-known pieces, such as ‘La revoltosa’, ‘El barberillo de Lavapiés’, ‘La tempranica’, ‘La verbena de la Paloma’ or ‘La Torre del Oro’. With the feeling of ‘mission accomplished’, the musician from Linares, together with Cristina Faus and the Orquesta de la Comunidad de Madrid, received a resounding ovation that lasted several minutes".
For its part, the newspaper Ideal says: ‘The performance of the orchestra and choir, accompanied by the spectacular voice of the mezzo-soprano Cristina Faus, offered a show that exceeded all the expectations of the audience, who filled the Teatro Cervantes. [...] The Orchestra's appearance at FIMAE was one of the most special moments of this ‘renewed’ festival in Linares. Thus, this show was one of the most memorable moments of the FIMAE 2024 programme, establishing Manuel Coves as an indisputable reference in musical direction inside and outside Linares". In addition, on the occasion of the concert, Manuel Coves was very present in the media, with a short previous interview in Hoy por Hoy Linares on SER or an article about him in El nuevo Observador.
