Manuel Coves conducts Les saisons in Oviedo, with the Malandain Ballet Biarritz
March 18th, 2025
Manuel Coves takes the helm of the Oviedo Filarmonía to provide music for the choreographies of Thierry Malandain in Les saisons.
The work combines Antonio Vivaldi's The Four Seasons with Giovanni Antonio Guido's The Four Seasons of the Year, a virtually unknown work by this composer, a contemporary of Vivaldi.
The Oviedo Filarmonía, conducted by Manuel Coves, will perform the score live, accompanying the Malandain Ballet Biarritz in a co-production by Château de Versailles Spectacles - Opéra Royal de Versailles and Orchestre de L'Opéra Royal de Versailles.
Manuel Coves already has an impressive track record as a musical director in ballet and dance, having collaborated with renowned companies such as the English National Ballet, the Ballet of the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, Semperoper Dresden, Aterballetto in Sferisterio, Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo, the Ballet Estable of the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, and Le Ballet du Grand Théâtre de Genève, in addition to the leading national companies like the Compañía Nacional de Danza, Ballet Nacional de España, and the recently formed Ballet Español de la Comunidad de Madrid. The performance, which will take place next Friday, March 21, is part of the Dance Festival organized by the City of Oviedo at the Teatro Campoamor.
