Manuel Coves conducts Don Quixote at Teatro Real with the Compañía Nacional de Danza
February 26th, 2025
Maestro Manuel Coves will lead the Orquesta Titular del Teatro Real in the ballet Don Quixote, a work he knows well, having conducted it on numerous occasions. This production, performed by the Compañía Nacional de Danza under the artistic direction of Muriel Romero, presents the choreographic version by José Carlos Martínez, based on Marius Petipa’s original.
The score, composed by Ludwig Minkus, will be performed live by the orchestra under Coves’ baton. The conductor has emphasized the importance of staying true to the original composition, removing later additions to present a version as faithful as possible to the composer’s original intent. Performances will take place at Teatro Real on February 27 and 28, as well as March 1 (double performance) and March 2.
