Leonor Bonilla stars in Doña Francisquita at the XXXII Festival de Teatro Lírico Español, with Juan Noval-Moro in the cast

Soprano Leonor Bonilla takes on the lead role in Doña Francisquita at the XXXII edition of the Festival de Teatro Lírico Español in Oviedo.
The production opens this year’s festival in Lluís Pasqual’s free adaptation of Amadeo Vives’ well-known zarzuela. Pasqual reinvents the original work’s dramaturgy from a transgressive perspective, transforming it into a love letter to the zarzuela genre.
Alongside the Sevillian soprano, the cast includes tenor Juan Noval-Moro as Cardona, Santiago Ballerini as Fernando, Mónica Redondo as Aurora, and Milagros Martín as Doña Francisca, among others.
The musical direction is led by Diego Martin-Etxebarria, conducting Oviedo Filarmonía and the Coro Capilla Polifónica Ciudad de Oviedo, while the stage direction is in the hands of Lluís Pasqual.
This is a co-production of the Teatro de la Zarzuela with the Gran Teatre del Liceu and the Opéra de Lausanne, a production that was awarded the Premio Max for Best Lyric Production in 2020.
The performances will take place on February 27 and March 1 at the Teatro Campoamor in Oviedo
