Leonor Bonilla performs A Sea Symphony with the RTVE Orchestra and Choir
5 de marzo de 2025
Soprano Leonor Bonilla will perform Symphony No. 1 A Sea Symphony by Ralph Vaughan Williams alongside the RTVE Orchestra and Choir at the 23rd edition of the In Memoriam Concert for the Victims of Terrorism. This annual event coincides this year with the 21st anniversary of the March 11 attacks.
Notably, the text of Vaughan Williams’ work is taken from Walt Whitman’s Leaves of Grass and is characterized by its use of free verse, lending fluidity to the entire piece.
Joining the Sevillian soprano on stage will be baritone Damián del Castillo. Both, accompanied by the RTVE Orchestra and Choir, will perform under the baton of the orchestra’s principal conductor, Christoph König. The concert, presided over by Their Majesties King Felipe and Queen Letizia, will take place on Thursday, March 6, at the Auditorio Nacional in Madrid. It is organized by the Victims of Terrorism Foundation and sponsored by the RTVE Orchestra and Choir, the Ministries of Culture and the Interior, INAEM, the Montemadrid Foundation, the Auditorio Nacional de Música, and the Madrid City Council.
