Leonor Bonilla performs a dazzling Lucia di Lammermoor in Zaragoza and makes her debut with the RAI Orchestra in Mahler's Symphony No. 4

After last weekend's performances at the Teatro Principal in Zaragoza, the specialised press has echoed the great performance of Leonor Bonilla as the protagonist of the production of Lucia di Lammermoor.
Codalario highlights the following: "Musically, it is a first-rate performance. Leonor Bonilla continues to be splendid in the role of Miss Lucia which brought her to fame at the Teatro de la Maestranza in Seville six years ago. She has great control over her high register which allows her to perform almost impossible nuances and phrasing. With impeccable coordination with the flute, she made the madness aria (Il dolce suono), one of the most memorable and most applauded moments of the evening".
For its part, the Heraldo de Aragón, coincides with the masterly performance of the Sevillian soprano in two articles. On the one hand we read: ‘"Leonor Bonilla, Lucia, was very expressive as an actress and singer. Bonilla was convincing from her first aria ‘Regnava nel silenzio’, with her beautiful timbre, wide high register and notable vocal weight in the most dramatic moments. She adjusted well to the tempo in the famous madness scene, where she did not deprive us of the usual stratospheric overtone not written in the score, and in her feast of coloratura she maintained a well-defined singing line, reaching the zenith of drama in this scene".
And on the other: "Lucia-Leonor, the absolute protagonist of the evening, is sensational both acting and vocally: she has a beautiful timbre, a warm central register, brilliant treble, sharp edges, regulators, optimum projection and phrasing, fantastic “fiato” and she is also a very good actress who conveys emotion with her character. The famous scene of madness was anthological, with its spectacular finale in the stunning overtone. Technique, courage and voice of the Sevillian star: great [...] Leonor is the perfect Lucia: refined and careful technique, emotion in every note, her corporal expression in every gesture and every movement. She is not only a splendid singer; she is also a dancer and it shows in her performance. She sings with her body, her voice and her soul".
Leonor will also be the soloist in Gustav Mahler's Symphony No. 4 in G major, which will take place in Turin. Under the baton of Maestro Giuseppe Mengoli, the RAI National Symphony Orchestra will also perform Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5 ‘Emperor’.
Concerts will take place on 21 and 22 November 2024 at the Auditorium Rai ‘Arturo Toscanini’ in Turin.
