Karina Demurova participates in Medea at the Mérida Festival
June 25 of 2024
This week the long-awaited production of Medea premieres at the Mérida International Classical Theater Festival and, throughout the week, we will reveal some details of said production, focusing on the singers Ángeles Blancas, Leonor Bonilla and Karina Demurova.
We start by talking about Karina Demurova. The Moscow mezzo-soprano will perform the role of the Second Maiden in this work composed by Luigi Cherubini, with a libretto by François-Benoît Hoffman and based on the tragedy by Euripides.
Andrés Salado conducts the Extremadura Orchestra and the Extremadura Chamber Choir in a co-production of the Teatro Real of Madrid, the Abu Dhabi Festival and the International Classical Theater Festival of Mérida. It will be staged by Paco Azorín, who presents this Cherubini classic from the point of view of his children and vicarious violence. The performances, which open the 70th edition of the Mérida Festival, will take place on June 27 and 29 at the Roman Theater of Mérida.
