Excellent reviews for Rafael Sánchez-Araña and Andrea Niño in the Carmen production at the Ópera de Las Palmas

Following the premiere last week of the Carmen production at the Teatro Pérez Galdós in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, the media have already highlighted the outstanding work of maestro Rafael Sánchez-Araña and mezzo-soprano Andrea Niño.
In its review, Ópera World praises Sánchez-Araña's conducting: "The Orquesta Filarmónica de Gran Canaria (OFGC) delivered a balanced and cohesive performance, following to the letter the tempi and dynamics set by maestro Rafael Sánchez-Araña, who offered a lively and nuanced interpretation, bringing brilliance and splendor to Bizet’s score while maintaining a careful balance with the voices."
Meanwhile, La Provincia emphasizes his attention to the stage and the singers: "Much of the evening’s success came from the pit, where the Orquesta Filarmónica de Gran Canaria delivered a robust sound, especially through the inspired string section, under the baton of Sánchez-Araña, who masterfully coordinated the entire ensemble with unwavering energy, using animated and theatrical tempi while remaining highly attentive to the stage and the overall vocal balance."
Regarding Andrea Niño, both Ópera World and La Provincia highlight her performance on stage: "A vocal cast of very high caliber brought each character to life. [...] The card scene, accompanied by the splendid voice of Colombian mezzo-soprano Andrea Niño (Mercedes)," and "Once again, the supporting roles were delivered at a high level, from Max Hochmuth as Zúñiga to the smugglers Ana Marqués and Andrea Niño..."
