Born in Russia, Dmitry graduated from the Urals State Conservatory in 2000. That year he won the Grand Prize of the International Singers Competition at the UNESCO International Festival in Kazakhstan. Since 2000 he has been a soloist at the Stanislavski Opera (Stanislavski and Nemirovich-Danchenko Moscow Academic Music Theatre).
In 2009 he was guest soloist at the State Academic Bolshoi Theatre of Russia and he also made his debut at the Bolshoi Theatre in the role of the Doctor in Wozzeck, in a new production by Dmitry Tchernyakov conducted by Teodor Currentzis. He soon became the favourite artist of this creative duo and he was invited to sing Banquo in Macbeth in a co-production by the Opéra de Paris and the Novosibirsk Opera. He sang the role again when the production was performed at the Teatro Real of Madrid in its 2012-13 season. He performed under the baton of Teodor Currentzis once again in Iolanta (King René) at the Teatro Real, with stage direction by Peter Sellars, in a production broadcast by Mezzo TV and subsequently released on DVD. The production then travelled to Palau de les Arts and also to the Bolshoi and to Aix-en-Provence.
He worked under the batons of conductors like Daniel Oren, Renato Palumbo, Pedro Halffter, Harmut Haenchen, Tomas Hanus, Giuseppe Finzi, Tomas Netopil, Keri-Lynn Wilson, Ivor Bolton, Mariss Jansons, Simone Young, Ingo Metzmacher and Pinchas Steinberg, among others.

In concert and recital, special mention must be made of his work, under the baton of Gennady Rozhdestvensky, in the role of Molchan Mitkov in Tchaikovsky's rarely-performed Oprichnik, in a concert given at the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari. The performance was broadcast throughout Europe and also recorded for subsequent release on CD. Other concert performances include Rossini's Stabat Mater, Verdi's Requiem, Stravinsky's Les Noces and different works by Schubert and Mussorgsky.
His recent engagements include War and Peace (Kutuzov), Eugene Onegin (Prince Gremin), Les contes d’Hoffmann (Les 4 diables), Lucia di Lammermoor (Raimondo), Khovanschina (Prince Ivan Khovansky) and Aida (Ramfis) at the Stanislavsky Theatre of Moscow; Il barbiere di Siviglia (Basilio), Boris Godunov and Sadko at the at the Bolshoi; Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk (Boris Timofeevich Ismailov) at the Opèra Bastille in Paris and Les contes d’Hoffmann (Les 4 diables) at the NCPA Beijing, Don Carlo at the Wiener Staatsoper, Teatro Real and Bolshoi; Prince Igor (Prince Galitski) at the Opera Bastille; Le coq d'or at the Komische Oper in Berlin, at the Opéra de Lyon and the Festival Aix-en-Provence.
His engagements this season include War and Peace at the Grand-Théâtre de Genève, Don Carlo at the Wiener Staastoper, The fiery angel at the Teatro Real, Sadko at the Bolshoi and Eugene Onegin, Lucia di Lammermoor and Les contes d'Hoffmann at the Stanislavsky Theatre.
