Dazzling Ramón Vargas in his recital at the Teatro Villamarta
9 October 2024
Just a few days after his resounding success in Coruña in L'elisir d'amore, Ramón Vargas continues to receive praise from the critics and ovations from the public, this time in the recital that opened the season at the Teatro Villamarta in Jerez, in which he was accompanied by his trusted pianist, Mzia Bakhtouridze.
Thus, in the newspaper La voz del sur we can read that: “Ramón Vargas conquered the audience in Jerez with a carefully traced phrasing and a well-built legato [...] The artist quickly won over the audience, given his ability to communicate and some interpretations that met the expectations deposited in a concert in which, as we say, we should highlight the intelligent choice of an appropriate repertoire [...] The insistent applause of the audience, revealing the success of the inaugural evening of the lyric season, gave way to three very famous pieces out of program (Core 'ngrato by Cardillo, Parlami d'amore Mariù by Bixio and “No puede ser” from Sorozábal's La tabernera del puerto) that rounded off the overall result of the concert.”
After these performances in Spain, the Mexican tenor will travel to Avignon (France) and to different Mexican cities to perform some concerts and recitals, and ends 2024 with the production of Un ballo in maschera at the Teatro Colón and the Misa criolla at the Théâtre du Capitole in Toulouse.
