Cristian Díaz in La regenta at the Oviedo Spanish Lyric Theatre Season

Cristian Díaz once again takes on the role of Don Víctor Quintanar in La regenta, an opera in three acts composed by Marisa Manchado with a libretto by Amelia Valcárcel, part of the Spanish Lyric Theatre Season in Oviedo.
The opera, inspired by the famous novel by Leopoldo Alas ‘Clarín’, premiered in October 2023 at the Sala Fernando Arrabal of the Naves del Español in Matadero, Madrid. It now arrives in Oviedo with nearly the entire original Madrid cast. In addition to Cristian Díaz, the cast features María Miró as Ana Ozores, David Oller as Fermín Pas, María Rey-Joly as Obdulia, Anna Gomà as Petra, Vicenç Esteve as Álvaro Mesía, Laura Vila as Doña Paula, Gabriel Díaz as Sapo, and José Manuel Montero as Paco Vegallana (in Madrid, the role was sung by Pablo García López).
The musical direction is by Jordi Francés, leading the Oviedo Filarmonía and the Capilla Polifónica Ciudad de Oviedo Choir, while stage direction is by Bárbara Lluch.
Performances will take place at the Teatro Campoamor in Oviedo on April 10 and 12.
