February 12th, 2025
Mexican baritone Carlos Reynoso will take on the lead role in the upcoming production of Peer Gynt by Edvard Grieg, to be presented at the Opéra National du Rhin in Strasbourg.
Peer Gynt combines Grieg’s incidental music with Henrik Ibsen’s narrative, offering a profound exploration of the human psyche through the protagonist’s adventures and misadventures. This concert version, conceived by Alain Perroux, features all 26 original musical numbers, connected through narration and performance.
Under the musical direction of Aziz Shokhakimov, the production will feature the Orchestre Philharmonique de Strasbourg, the Opéra Studio, and the Chorus of the Opéra National du Rhin, along with students from the École Supérieure d’Art Dramatique at the Théâtre National de Strasbourg. The cast includes soprano Alysia Hanshaw as Solveig, mezzo-soprano Camille Bauer as Anitra, and soprano Ana Escudero as the first of the shepherd's daughters. Performances are scheduled for February 14, 15, and 16 at the Opéra de Strasbourg.
