Ángeles Blancas receives the Ópera XXI Award for Best Female Singer

The soprano Ángeles Blancas received yesterday the Award for Best Female Singer at the VI Edition of the Ópera XXI Awards. The gala, which took place at the Teatro de la Zarzuela, was attended by numerous personalities from the world of art and politics: Ermonela Jaho, Juan Echanove, Alberto Ruiz Gallardón or Serena Sáenz, among others.
During the presentation of this award, which was made by the actress Toni Acosta, her interpretation of the role of Kostelnička in the opera Jenůfa, by Leoš Janáček, at the Teatro de la Maestranza in February 2023 was highlighted and other interpretations were also praised, such as her incarnation of Goneril in Lear, at the Teatro Real, and her recent Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk at the Liceu.
In her speech upon receiving the award, Blancas took the opportunity to demand greater support for Spanish artists and also dedicated the award to her parents, renowned artists such as the soprano Ángeles Gulín and the baritone Antonio Blancas.
