Ángeles Blancas opens the Liceu's season with Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk

Soprano Ángeles Blancas heads the cast of the production of Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk, a work by Dmitri Shostakovich that opens the 2024/25 season of the Gran Teatre del Liceu. Blancas will perform Katerina Ismailova, the opera's main role, which she alternates with soprano Sara Jakubiak.
The large cast also includes the participation of tenor Albert Casals.
Maestro Josep Pons will be in charge of conducting the Chorus and Symphony Orchestra of the Gran Teatre del Liceu, in a new production of the coliseum itself directed by Àlex Ollé.
The performances in which Ángeles Blancas will participate will take place on September 27th, 5th and 7th October, while Albert Casals will take part in the performances on September 25th, 27th and 28th, as well as on October 1st, 3rd, 5th, 6th and 7th.
