Marcelo Lombardero is one of the most distinguished opera stage directors in Latin America, combining more than three decades of artistic experience with an extensive career in opera management and cultural leadership.
Following an international career as a baritone in Europe and the Americas, he devoted himself exclusively to stage directing, rapidly establishing a reputation for productions of exceptional dramatic coherence, psychological depth and visual sophistication.
His work encompasses the major operatic repertoire from Monteverdi to contemporaryopera, with particular recognition for his interpretations of Wagner, Britten, Berg, Strauss, Shostakovich, Weill, Poulenc, Zemlinsky, Ullmann and Krenek, alongside the core Italian, French and Czech repertory.
In parallel with his artistic activity, Lombardero has held the artistic leadership of three of the most important opera institutions in Latin America, combining creative excellence with extensive administrative and production experience.
Today he is recognized not only as a stage director but also as one of the principal artistic leaders in the development of opera throughout Latin America.
