The Quarteto de Cordas de Matosinhos, founded in 2007 following the contest organized by the town council, is compose by Vitor Vieira and Juan Maggiorani (violins), Jorge Alves (viola) and Marco Pereira (cello). They all graduated by the Academia Nacional Superior de Orquestra, and continued their studies at various prestige colleges, such as the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofia in Madrid, Northwestern University in Chicago and the Sion Conservatory in Switzerland. The Quarteto also undertook specialized studies at the International Chamber Music Institute in Madrid. All its members have
received Portuguese and international awards, individually
and for chamber music.
